BSX up as Belco improves

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index edged up 6.32 points yesterday to close at 4,388.21.
On a moderate day of trading Belco led the advances, gaining 50 cents to close at $39 on volume of 2,300 shares and BF&M rose 25 cents to close at $17.50 on volume of 500 shares.
Bermuda Container Line was the only issue to decline, losing 25 cents to close at $13.75 as 300 shares changed hands.
Meanwhile Butterfield Bank was unchanged at $55.50 on volume of 5,135 shares.
The total value of the shares bought and sold on the BSX yesterday was $387,542.50 and the overall volume of shares was 8,235.
Interest rate sensitive Bermuda insurance stocks were knocked by the Federal Reserve?s decision to raise a key rate.
