Harvey Maybury takes over from Lacey-Minors

The Bank of Butterfield has announced the appointment of Donna Harvey Maybury to the position of Senior Vice President, Human Resources.

Ms Harvey Maybury is an accomplished Human Resources professional with significant experience at a senior level, working for organisations such as the Bermuda Hospitals Board and Bermuda Employers' Council. Her most recent position was Vice President/Director, Human Resources, Bank of Bermuda.

"We are pleased to welcome Ms Harvey Maybury to Bank of Butterfield. She has earned an excellent reputation in her field, and we look forward to working with her," said Alan Thompson, President & CEO.

Ms Harvey Maybury will replace Karla Lacey-Minors, Senior Vice President Human Resources and Corporate Communications, who will be leaving Bermuda to pursue other endeavours. Ms Lacey-Minors joined the Bank as Head of Marketing in 1999 and has been in her current position since November 2001.

"Ms Lacey-Minors has made a substantial contribution to Bank of Butterfield in the areas of Human Resources and Marketing & Corporate Communications. We will miss her and wish her continued success in the future," said Alan Thompson, President & CEO.

Ms Harvey Maybury will join the Human Resources Department on September 2, 2003, and Ms Lacey-Minors will remain at the bank for a transition period. The Marketing & Corporate Communications, headed up by Vice President Karen Cabral, will report directly to Alan Thompson.

Construction association joins with US counterpart in training initiative

Government has announced that the Construction Association of Bermuda has been appointed by the National Centre for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) in Gainsville, Florida as the accredited sponsor for construction training in Bermuda.

The National Training Board and the Construction Association of Bermuda commenced a partnership in 2001 for the delivery of quality construction training for Bermudians. The NCCER training standard, which was announced by public notice in June 2002, can be achieved by Bermudians studying in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, air conditioning, electronics systems and industrial maintenance.

Bank offers seminar for parents

The Bank of Butterfield will host a seminar entitled Money Matters for Mum and Dad, tomorrow in St. George's.

Parents of children who are, or will be, studying abroad will have their financial questions answered by a trio of bank representatives. Alvin Daniels, St. George's branch manager, Eddie Belfon, vice president, consumer credit, and Donnamay Evans, assistant vice president, consumer credit, will give advice and answer questions. According to the bank, parents attending will benefit from information on matters such as the options for financing their child's education, methods for sending funds to their child while abroad, how a student abroad can acquire a debit/credit card, and more. TL currency/bond fund withdraws from BSX

The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday announced the voluntary withdrawal from listing of TL Leveraged Cross Currency & Bond Fund Ltd. The withdrawal from listing was made at the request of the fund, which, as of February 10, 2003 had redeemed all of its outstanding shares. The withdrawal from listing on the BSX was effective as of July 1.
