DigiVision brings dynamic edge to advertising

Two local companies are aligning their respective expertise to support Bermuda?s newest advertising medium.

DigiVision, which operates dynamic digital signage and advertising on plasma display screens in several locations on the Island, has signed an agreement with local technology services company Transact Ltd.

Transact will provide back-end technology that facilitates remote access to each plasma screen from DigiVision?s Smith?s headquarters. This development will enable DigiVision to make changes to the content of the advertising on each screen from their central control operating system via the Internet and a DSL connection.

?This means we can accommodate any changes that our clients might want to their content very easily and pretty much on the fly if we need to,? said Sandra Williams, owner and manager of DigiVision.

?If a client wants to change an ad or promotion week-to-week or even day-to-day we will be able to do it in real time thanks to the technology Transact has brought to our network. We?re very happy to be working with them.?

Mrs. Williams added that all elements of the content in an advertisement could be changed, including text, graphics and video.

Bill Dickinson, senior vice president, sales and marketing of Transact said: ?We think what Mrs. Williams is doing is very progressive and we?re pleased to be providing the networking support for each location to ensure that the system is secure, robust and reliable.

?We?re providing high-speed DSL connectivity between each retail location and DigiVision,? added Mr Dickinson. ?The clients want the reliability that their ads will be up all the time. We feel that together Transact and DigiVision will give advertising clients using the system the comfort that they are getting the best solution and good value.?

Mrs. Williams said DigiVision?s flatscreen plasma displays are an alternative to traditional, static point-of-purchase advertising. Locations carrying the screens on the Island include the Esso City Tigermarket and the Phoenix Centre in Hamilton.

?The fact that they are dynamic makes them a lot more effective in terms of capturing and holding attention,? she said.

?We can run videostreaming, animation and even live events on the screens. There?s even a tickerline feature that has lots of potential uses, such as for local or overseas news headlines or stockmarket information or emergency messages.?

She said the technology that powers the DigiVision network is cutting-edge and the plasma screen presentation represents the next generation of dynamic advertising.
