Index creeps up more than 7 points
The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Index edged up 7.098 points last week to close at 4,907.6 points in active but mixed trading.
Butterfield Bank fell 50 cents to close at $59 on volume of 52,759 shares but its decline was offset by gains in utilities Belco and KeyTech.
Belco jumped $1 or five percent to close at $21 on volume of 504 shares while telecommunications group KeyTech, which is facing a takeover bid from Cable & Wireless, rose 25 cents to $15.75 on volume of 900 shares.
Argus Group rose 25 cents to $14.50 on volume of 3,980 while rival BF&M was unchanged at $15 on volume of 1,300 shares.
Bermuda Commercial Bank was up 20 cents to $8.50 as 5,693 shares traded. However, its warrants fell 50 cents or 28.57 percent to $1.25 on volume of 400.
Kentucky Fried Chicken gained 50 cents on trading of 1,000 shares to close at $8.
A total of 68,516 shares worth $3.28 million traded during the week.
