New parents have a new choice

Customers looking for baby supplies and accessories now have more choice as they can go to Munchkyn's baby store in Hamilton.

Munchykyn's opened in December, 2005 and is owned and managed by Bianca Glasford and Doreen Burgess.

Located on 119 Front Street (the walkway between The Double Dip and Reid Street), the store offers a wide selection of clothes, baby bags, strollers, gift sets, swings, play mats, bath tubs, diapers, high chairs and other essential baby items.

After finding out that 800 babies are born every year, the business partners decided there was niche in the market offering products to meet the needs of toddlers.

"We realised there wasn't a wide selection of items for young children and since we opened the store business has been pretty good. People have been saying our prices are reasonable and it has helped to spread the word about us, Ms Burgess said.

"We hope to satisfy customers so when they come here they can find what they are looking for. If they don't find what they are looking for we can order it."

Opening the small business was the first venture the close childhood friends have embarked on together.

"It has been a learning experience because it is something I have never done before but it has enabled me to learn and sometimes you have to make mistakes to learn sometimes," Ms Burgess said.

Ms Glasford said: "I am happy with the way things are going and I have used my experience as a mother of a year-old to offer products I know about or familiar with."
