With the release of Bermuda Moongate Beauties, Jamela Daniels is the first woman in Bermuda to produce an all-female calendar.

Bermuda Moongate has been close to her heart for a long time and Ms Daniels strived to make the calendar exactly the way she envisioned it.

It features local women adorned with colourful designs with many wearing sarongs, wraps or clothing in a tasteful style.

There are no bikini-clad women, said Ms Daniels, who attempting to portray the women in a more subdued manner. Moongate Beauties also attempts to show the diversity of Bermuda as the women on view reflect a variety of ethnic backgrounds.

?The former calendars were swimsuit calendars, but I wanted the girls to be looked at in a different light. I wanted to show their natural charm with a hint of seduction and pursue a more artistic direction,? Ms Daniels said.

?My idea was to create a calendar expressing the uniqueness and eccentricity of Bermuda and show the beauty of the girls using local scenery.?

Ms Daniels, the local events co-ordinator of the Bermuda International Business Association, has a degree in fashion and served as the director of the calendar project.

?I wanted to put forth my fashion experience and creativity for this endeavour.?

The title pays homage to Bermudian architecture and each month contains facts about Bermuda?s history.

Photographer Ras Mykal, make-up artist Palomo West and staff from Blades helped to make Ms Daniels? dream come true.
