Tannock looking forward to challenge in London
A young professional Bermudian is about to embark on a three-year job placement working in the insurance industry in London.
It will be Raymond Tannock, Jr.?s first time living in the UK and he is taking his eight-year-old daughter Treasure with him to experience life in another country.
Mr. Tannock, 32, who is the son of former Senator Raymond Tannock, is currently an underwriter with Allied World Assurance Company Holdings and says his future ambitions are to ?stay within the insurance industry, progress with Allied World in underwriting, and someday become part of its senior management team?.
From the middle of December he will relocate to London to work in the general casualty unit for AWAC, helping to develop the company?s European business.
?I believe working as an underwriter within the London market will show me a different side of insurance ? different competitors, a different environment and different ways of doing business ? and I look forward to the challenge,? he said. ?This is not only a great opportunity for me as an employee, but also as a Bermudian. My goal is to learn as much as I can while working in the UK and bring that knowledge to Bermuda.
Mr. Tannock has lived in Bermuda all his life, except for his time attending Hampton University in Virginia.
He will live in the London borough of Chiswick during his stay in the capital city and said his daughter Treasure is his ?inspiration? and ?this move allows her to experience life in a different way ? an experience which will be invaluable for both of us?.
Property and casualty insurance company AWAC was founded in 2001. Company president and CEO Scott Carmilani said: ?We are confident Raymond will do a fine job and become a more valuable employee with this experience.?
