The man advising Government
Dr. Andrew Brimmer is the Principal Economic Policy Advisor to the Minister of Finance. Dr. Brimmer advises the Minister primarily in his role as coordinator of economic policy, assessment, development and evaluation.
Dr. Brimmer is president of Brimmer & Co. based in Washington DC which is a economic and financial consulting firm he started in 1976.
Before this he served for eight and a half years as a Governor of the US Federal Reserve System, following three years in the US Department of Commerce where his last post was Assistant Secretary of Economic Affaris.
Dr. Brimmer was appointed by former President Bill Clinton to chair the district of Columbia's Financial Control Board which he did for three years. The board was established to pull US capital back from the edge of financial bankruptcy, end the large annual budget deficits, improve management and put the city in a position to borrow again from the capital market.
Dr. Brimmer has also served as a director to a number of major corporations including Bank of America, DuPont, United Airlines, Navistar International and BlackRock Mutual Funds.
