Working up an appetite

A recently opened Washington Mall eatery ? the H20 cafe ? has a little more wind in its sails after local artist Betsy Mulderig brightened up the restaurant?s interior with a mural of wave-riding windsurfers.

The all-day-breakfast and lunch spot ? that re-opens this week with a brand new buffet being featured in addition to its a la carte menu ? was taken over in recent months by husband and wife team Holger Eiselt and Hayley Williams.

H20 is located in the former premises of the Take Five restaurant which closed last year.

Yesterday, Mr. Eiselt said the buffet ? available for both breakfast and lunch ? will feature daily specials and health conscious dishes including dairy-free, wheat-free, gluten-free items. There will also be South Beach diet approved dishes, he said.

Meanwhile, Ms Mulderig?s brightly painted mural of windsurfers gives a nod to former Olympic windsurfing contender for Bermuda, Hubert Watlington, who has been painted right into the middle of the work.

The H2O name underscores both that the new owners have names beginning with ?H? and also their passion for watersports, specifically windsurfing.

In keeping with this affinity for the waves, Mr. Eiselt has also mounted surf boards on the bright canary walls, and covered both tables and a ceiling with sails.
