Levin takes world stage
Ace Overseas General has appointed Edward Levin, currently regional executive vice president, Accident & Health with Ace Europe, to the position of executive vice president, International A&H.
In addition, Andy Hollenberg, currently vice president, A&H, Ace Far East, has been named senior vice president, A&H, Ace Europe. A successor to Mr. Hollenberg in Japan will be named in the near future.
In his new role Mr. Levin will report to Ed Clancy, president and chief operating officer, Ace overseas general. Mr. Levin will remain in London and assist in Mr. Hollenberg's transition to Europe.
In his new role, which includes A&H and Personal Lines, Mr. Hollenberg will report jointly to Mr. Levin and to Andrew Kendrick, chairman and chief executive officer, Ace European Group. He and his family will relocate to London, in preparation for his official start date of October 1.
"We are pleased to be able to rely on Ed and Andy to assume greater responsibilities," said Mr. Clancy. "Our ability to look to our current management staff and to promote from within is an indication of the strength of our organisation."
Bermuda-based reinsurers White Mountains Re Ltd. have announced the appointment of Dwight Evans as executive vice-president (EVP).
Mr. Evans will also become CEO of the company's subsidiary, White Mountains Re Underwriting Services Ltd.
He has a successful track record in underwriting, having worked as chairman and CEO of Arch Worldwide Reinsurance Group from 2001 to 2005, as well as fulfilling the role of EVP for F&G Re Inc. between 1983 to 1988 before it was sold to St. Paul Re.
Most recently he headed mono-line start-up company LightKeeper Security Inc.
Allan Waters, president and CEO of White Mountains Re, said: "We are excited to have Dwight join the team. In his role as EVP at the group level, Dwight will provide experienced stewardship of our global underwriting strategies.
"And as CEO of our newly-capitalised Bermuda operations, he will supply the strong leadership needed to successfully develop that leg of our business."
Assured Guaranty has announced that Francisco Borges has been elected to the company's board of directors. Mr. Borges will serve on the company's Audit and Finance committees.
In addition, Donald Layton, a director since 2006, has been appointed chairman of the company's Risk Oversight Committee. Mr. Layton has extensive experience in the financial markets and formerly served as vice chairman of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.
Walter Scott, chairman of Assured Guaranty Ltd., said: "We are fortunate to have Frank Borges join the board. His experience in the capital markets, and in the financial guaranty industry in particular, will assist Assured's management team in continuing the company's development as a leading player in financial guaranty."
Mr. Borges is chairman and managing partner at Landmark Partners, a private equity and real estate investment company specializing in secondary funds. The company also announced that John Heimann, 78, will be retiring from the board of directors. Mr. Heimann joined the board of directors after the company's April 2004 initial public offering and has served as chairman of the Risk Oversight Committee and as a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee.
