Bank shares rise

An upward movement of 39.97 points lifted the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange back above 5,000 points to end the day at 5.026.33, up 0.8 percent.
The most activity was in shares of Butterfield Bank which improved in value by 75 cents to $58, an improvement of 1.3 percent after 3,324 shares were traded.
The only other shares to be traded on Tuesday were Belco. A total of 2,820 were traded, although the closing price of $24 remained unchanged.
A total of 6,144 shares were exchanged during the day, representing a value of $259,536.
