BSX is unchanged

Only two companies saw trading action on a day which ended with no change to the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index yesterday.

There was plenty of trading activity around Butterfield Bank, which saw 13,055 shares change hands and closed the day unchanged on $17.10.

After the close of trading, the Bank reported first-quarter profits of $36.3 million, up 1.8 percent on the same period last year (read a full report on the bank's results in Monday's Gazette Business section).

BF&M Ltd. was also unchanged at $21.15, after 2,700 of its shares changed hands.

The BSX Index closed on 5,030.20, unchanged. Volume of shares traded totalled 15,755 and turnover was $280,423.40.

Meanwhile, the BSX Insurance Index registered a second straight day of gains, climbing 4.86 points (0.4 percent) to close on 1,086.99.
