Cox to lead Government delegation

Finance Minister Paula Cox will be leading Government's delegation at the RIMS (Risk Insurance and Management Society) conference in San Diego this year.

Ms Cox will join the Bank of Bermuda, the Bermuda Monetary Authority, the Bermuda International Business Association, the Association of Bermuda International Companies and the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers alongside the good and great of the Island's re/insurance and captive management industry at the event which starts on Sunday.

She said RIMS will be a valuable opportunity to network with existing partners in the sector and build up new relationships, spreading the message that Bermuda is a "safe, reliable and successful jurisdiction" to do business.

"Despite the growth and emergence of a number of new re/insurance domiciles, Bermuda retains its position as the largest captive domicile," she said.

Ms Cox will meet up with RIMS president Janice Ochenkowski, vice-president Joe Restoule and executive director Mary Roth, as well as doing the traditional tour of the exhibition hall, taking in the famous Bermuda booth, and being the keynote speaker at the annual Bermuda reception on Tuesday evening.

She expects delegates will be discussing the fluctuation of the US economy and the US presidential election.

"Overseas jurisdictions like Bermuda, have come under scrutiny from two of the presidential candidates and as such we will be reinforcing our message of stability to counter any possible criticism," she said.
