Stevedoring rises

Tansportation and insurance were the sectors to be in on The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) yesterday.

Stevedoring Services Ltd. and Argus Group Holdings Ltd. saw their share prices rise by $1 (16.7 percent) and 95 cents (5.9 percent) respectively.

Stevedoring closed at $7 with 500 shares traded, while Argus finished on $16.95, as 1,000 shares changed hands.

But Belco Holdings Ltd. dropped $1.45 (6.6 percent) to close on $20.55, with 610 shares traded, and Butterfield Bank also declined 10 cents (0.6 percent) to $17.20. The bank traded 19,547 shares.

The only other company to see any shares change hands was LOM (Holdings) Ltd., with 1,500, but its share value held firm.

Overall, the Index fell 5.8 points (0.11 percent) to 5,103.83, with 23,157 shares worth $375,228.6 traded.

The BSX Insurance Index also dropped 6.19 points (0.57 percent) to 1,082.29.
