Africa to come under the spotlight
African people have made a fundamental contribution to the culture and ethos of the Western world and they need to understand this fact because it is an important ingredient in their journey to empowerment.
This point will be underlined tonight and tomorrow night when two renowned speakers, Merira Kwesi and Ashra Kwesi, talk at St. Paul Centennial Hall.
Mrs. Kwesi, will address the topic: "Advertising's attack on the African image.'' Mrs. Kwesi, who holds an MBA with a concentration in Marketing combined with years of research in African countries said that she will use slides in her presentation to underscore the salient points. She said that she would look at the symbols and trademarks that are in current use.
"Much of what we know in the field of marketing and advertising came from African people,'' she pointed out.
"Many of the signs and symbols were taken from Africa but that fact has been maligned.'' Mr. Kwesi, meanwhile, said he would be examining the concept of Freemasonry which was a notion seared into the history of the Western world. "At its origin Freemasonry belongs to us. Others have benefitted from it so is time we explain this so that the audience can open their minds to hear us.'' Mr. Kwesi added: "Symbols represent communication. We need to understand the necessity of symbols.'' Mrs. Kwesi will speak on Advertising's Attack on the African image while Mr.
Kwesi will look at the African Origin of Civilisation and Western Freemasonry.
