Aviation Authority ordered inspections on Boeing 777s.
The FAA called for checks on back-up generators on 61 US-registered planes.
But all the aircraft that fly to and from Bermuda are registered in the UK and not covered by the directive.
While no accidents have resulted from the problem, the Federal Aviation Administration said all Boeing Co. 777-200 and 777-300 series planes must be checked within 14 days for sheared drive shafts and the generators replaced before flights can resume.
A statement from BA said: "Safety is our highest concern and never compromised. We always comply with all airworthiness directives and we shall comply fully with this directive, including fitting even lower torque shafts.''
