Bank chief Collier given a new title
for its top executive officer and replaced a retiring director with a Government MP.
The bank promoted president and chief operating officer Mr. Michael Collier to president and chief executive officer.
Mr. Collier has been the bank's top executive for three years.
The change, effective Friday, brings the title more in line with international standards.
The bank also announced that board member Mr. R. Walter Sharpe, who has now reached the mandatory retirement age for directors of 70, has retired from the board.
Youth and Sport Minister the Hon. Pamela Gordon, previously a director of the Bank of Butterfield Executor & Trustee Company Ltd.'s board, has been appointed to the board.
FINANCIAL SOFTWARE FOCUS OF MEETINGS CON Financial software focus of meetings Jobstream Group Plc, a British financial software company, has slated a seminar in Bermuda for Thursday, October 12.
The financial software seminar will be held in the Bermuda Room at the Hamilton Princess Hotel and gets underway at 9 a.m., the company said.
Jobstream senior consultant Mr. Roger Martin will present the seminar. Mr.
Martin is from the company's Cambridge, England research and development headquarters.
The Jobstream package focuses on offshore jurisdictions and international transactions.
SEMINARS AIMED AT AMERICAN TAXATION CON Seminars aimed at American taxation Investment seminars hosted by GulfStream Securities Ltd. and New Jersey-based Expatriate Tax Services (ETS) will focus on US tax implications for Island residents with US assets and on taxes faced by Americans living in Bermuda.
"For the Bermuda national, the focus is on avoiding taxation on US investments, while for the US citizen living in Bermuda, the focus will be on normal tax planning and taking advantage of the exclusions and learning about proposed legislation,'' said ETS president Mr. James Sabo.
The sessions will be Tuesday and Wednesday at the Princess, for residents with US assets and US citizens living in Bermuda, respectively.
