Bank stocks power market to bumper week

Bermuda shares rallied in a bumper week of trading in which $4.3 million changed hands.This trading was offset by a fall in the price of the stock of Bank of Butterfield, Bermuda Commercial Bank and Belco.

This trading was offset by a fall in the price of the stock of Bank of Butterfield, Bermuda Commercial Bank and Belco.
Bank of Bermuda stock rose $1.50 or 3.45 percent to close at $45.00, and traded 87,644 shares.
Bank of Butterfield lost 50 cents or 2 percent to $24.50 and Bermuda Commercial Bank lost $1.45 to close at $6.00.
Argus Insurance Co Ltd gained 75 cents to close at its 52 week high of $17.50 and Belco lost the same amount, 75 cents to finish at $22.25.
The index closed up 1.23 percent at 2,230.13 on a volume of 100,700 shares worth $4,282,231.20. No bonds were traded.
