In the latest move by the hotel, which is due to close on November 30, workers will come face to face with more than 20 local companies -- and could walk out with a new career. The hotel is organising a job fair extravaganza later for September 22 & 23 as part of a continued drive to assist the 450 staff in finding new work and opportunities.
And with interviews expected to take place at the two-day event, Marriott human resources director Lorrita Tucker-Simmons said she believed many people could end up with new positions on the spot.
"People could walk away with job offers,'' she said. "People will be able to fill out application forms and have interviews on the spot.'' The companies signed up so far include the Bank of Bermuda, Bank of Butterfield, Phoenix Centre, Dolphin Quest and the Little Venice Group.
