BIBA to host seminars in Paris and Frankfurt

French and German business executives and journalists will be introduced to the Island's international business environment next week during seminars hosted by the Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA) in Paris and Frankfurt.

On Tuesday in France and on Wednesday in Germany, Europeans will learn more about Bermuda's financial services, insurance and reinsurance industries, the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) and the benefits of having a Bermuda registered company.

BIBA chairman, Glenn Titterton, said yesterday, "Our goal is to provide an overview on the many attractive facets of doing business in Bermuda, creating interest and contacts in the European business community.

"We want to drive home the message that Bermuda has a fair and responsive regulatory environment, a depth of intellectual capital, and a focus on providing the best environment for doing business.'' In Paris, more than 100 people have registered to attend the half-day seminar and an evening reception. Select members of the Bermuda delegation will meet with journalists for one-on-one interviews.

In Frankfurt, a smaller group will meet for round table discussions and a luncheon with Bermuda delegates. And a briefing is scheduled for top journalists from German business publications.

Mr. Titterton said, "We are pleased by the level of international interest in these events. To date, we have held well-attended briefings in the US and UK and we consider France and Germany key markets as we continue to strengthen our international business industry.'' The Bermuda delegation includes Deputy Premier Jerome Dill, Minister of Finance Grant Gibbons, Mr. Titterton, general manager of the Bermuda Monetary Authority Malcolm Williams, Registrar of Companies Kymn Astwood and representatives of the insurance, reinsurance and financial services industries.
