BSX Index drops to record low
Bermuda Stock Exchange's record low close last week.
Telco, trading ex-dividend, closed down $12 at $24 on volume of 12,743. The drop in value on a trade of just 104 shares, came after the company announced it was distributing 15-year notes to its common shareholders.
The index, which closed at a record low, posted a 22.5 point fall erasing last week's gain to close at 896.91.
Six other issues also fell, three gained three gained and three were unchanged in another week of heavy trading on the Bermuda Stock Exchange.
Weekly volume was 99,433 shares, believed the fourth highest five-day total since daily trading commenced four years ago. Value of trading was $1.3 million. Last week, 125,331 shares worth about $1.6 million changed hands.
Other issues declining were Bermuda Commercial Bank, Bermuda Home, Kentucky Fried Chicken (Bermuda), Argus, Staples preferred, and Belco.
Gainers included Bank of Bermuda, Bank of Butterfield and Bermuda Bakery.
BF&M Preferred, Island Press preferred and Watlington Waterworks were unchanged.
