bundled service packaging, as officials indicated the company will provide a less expensive service than is provided in North America.

The company has also just improved service by expanding the cellular service coverage.

A new cell site was recently turned on in the Bailey's Bay area, virtually eliminating the intermittent problems, such as "dropped calls'' previously experienced by cellular customers in that part of the Island.

Customers using their BTC Mobility service from Crawl Hill to Fractious Street will now experience greatly improved coverage, enhancing the continuity of service in this region.

But while the new services that are being provided in North America are being made available here, they are coming at a better price.

BTC wireless product manager, Firoz Kassam, said, "If you compare our prices with the North American prices, we are the least expensive. We are much more competitive than if you go to Canada or the United States.'' BTC Mobility, a division of BTC (Bermuda Telephone Company), said it is committed to providing a superior, world standard, digital wireless network with value added services that meet the varied demands of Bermuda's business, government, public and private institutions and individual calling patterns, requirements and lifestyles.

Eight new service plans will be made available as of Monday, December 22, in addition to the standard package now offered.

The signature service plan, for example, for $299.95 a month, features 1,500 free minutes (25 hours) of air time, plus all of the added features, such as caller ID and group ringing. If the 1,500 minutes are exhausted, the charge is 15 cents a minute.

The safety and security plan is available for $15 a month, plus air time.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kassam said, "In certain parts of Canada, you could be paying 75 cents a minute. Here you are paying either 30 cents or 15 cents a minute.

There is a difference.'' He said, "Our research into customer requirements has resulted in bundled analog and new digital value added services that puts the BTC Mobility network on par with major wireless networks in North America.

"We are offering services that will enable the end user to be more productive. We recognise that many businesses in Bermuda compete in the global market.''
