BTC teams up with magazine
distributed though the mail, will now be included as an insert in Bermudian Business Magazine.
About 5,000 copies of the newsletter's fourth edition will be distributed during the week of August 17. The newsletter covers trends in the telecommunications marketplace and information about BTC's services.
The new issue features a rather technical and convoluted description of BTC's progress in dealing with the Year 2000 computer bug. It doesn't give a date when the company will be compliant.
"This is medicine which must be swallowed dry, without the assistance of media grease,'' the newsletter proclaims, and adds in bold letters "BTC is optimistic'' and "The proof will be on the other end of the line''.
Elsewhere the newsletter announces the launch of a global calling card on September 1, and BTC's partnership with Globalstar Telecommunications Ltd. as the sole licensed provider of the company's satellite telephone services (See story this page).
The newsletter wraps up with a humour piece by freelance writer Roger Crombie on politics in the workplace.
"Your pal's political career is the worst thing that ever happened to your business career,'' he writes. "But it's a small sacrifice for a big ideal: democracy. The idea that anyone can be Premier, even your idiotic friend, somehow comforts us. That's because we don't have to work with him.'' MAGAZINE NJ
