Creditors, contributories to meet
Bermuda Ltd. are scheduled to meet for the first time next week Friday at the Chamber of Commerce on Front Street.
Conyers, Dill & Pearman, attorneys for the provisional liquidator, have advised that creditors can obtain their right to vote during the meeting by lodging a proxy and a proof of debt form with the provisional liquidator no later than next week Wednesday.
The provisional liquidator is Gregory Haycock, partner at chartered accountants, KPMG/Butterfield & Steinhoff.
Creditors and contributories will consider the same resolutions at separate meetings. They will consider if an application should be made to the Supreme Court to appoint a permanent liquidator, and who that may be.
A second resolution to be considered is whether or not an application is to be made to the Supreme Court to appoint a committee of inspection to act with the liquidator.
Archie Brown boss, Warren Brown, hinted last December that his retail business was in trouble and could soon close.
That became a reality at the end of February, when staff learned that the Supreme Court had been petitioned to wind the companies up.
The move came as president of The English Sports Shop (TESS) Ltd., David Hamshere, was negotiating to buy the business. His latest offer had been rejected by Mr. Brown.
Mr. Hamshere, who headed 15 other clothing retail outlets, eventually took over the operations of Archie Brown & Son and the St. Michael store, after the official receiver saw that the major creditor was satisfied.
