Doulton tour to include Bermuda
manufacturer Royal Doulton and a fifth generation descendant of the company's founder, is coming to Bermuda next month.
Mr. Doulton will make in-store appearances at three Front Street stores. He will be at H.A.&E. Smith from Monday, July 5, to Wednesday, July 7; at W.M.
Bluck & Co. from Thursday, July 8, to Saturday, July 10; and ends at A.S.
Cooper & Sons between Monday, July 12, and Wednesday, July 14.
For the second year, a Royal Doulton figure has been specially created for sale and signature by Mr. Doulton.
The bone china model is entitled `Sarah' and wears a shaded orange and lemon gown with hand-painted pink rosebuds gathering the hem above frilled white petticoats.
An added feature of this new figure is the hand-made flower arrangement and the tiny blossom she holds in her hand. Named after Sarah Kennaby, wife of the founder's son, Sir Henry Doulton, who took the company to international recognition, this figure is exclusive for 1993 and the moulds will be smashed after this year.
Mr. Doulton will stop off in Bermuda during a tour that will also take him to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, The Bahamas and the Caribbean, together with selective UK venues.
He has been travelling the world, meeting collectors and customers and signing purchases for ten years.
Royal Doulton character jugs were first introduced in 1934 and have become collector's items all over the world.
LIMITED EDITION -- Mr. Michael Doulton will be coming to Bermuda to autograph a special signature series of Royal Doulton china dolls.
