A graduate of Stetson University, Mr. Hampton holds doctoral and master's degrees in business administration from George Washington University. He has held consulting positions in Asia, Europe and the US in the areas of insurance and finance.

Mr. Hampton has also been the Provost of the College of Insurance and SUNY Maritime College. He has authored several publications including Global Insurance, Reinsurance and Risk Management, managing Risks in Chinese Joint Ventures and Essentials of Insurance and Risk Management.

After the appointment Mr. Hampton said that he had been impressed by the goals of the Board of Directors of RIMS and its executive council.
