Power was disrupted after workmen cut a electricity cable while they were digging on Berkeley Hill in Pembroke around 9.30 a.m.

The accident caused major problems at the main generating plant and the Belmont and Flatts sub power stations -- both main conduits for power to the West End and East End respectively.

Power was off for about 90 minutes in Sandys, Southampton, Warwick, Paget, St.

George's and Hamilton Parish.

Bermuda Electric Light Company technicians rerouted the power supply along different lines. The last area affected, a small area of St. George's, was back on line by noon.
