Insurance Forum goes global

The Bermuda World Insurance Forum was broadcast via satellite to viewers in cities across the United States and Canada on Wednesday.

Insurance Broadcast Systems beamed the conference at the Southampton Princess Hotel directly to major insurance companies in what is thought to be the first ever telecast of its kind from Bermuda.

Coverage feature a panel of industry luminaries including Lloyds of London chairman Max Taylor, Aon Corporation chairman Pat Ryan and XL Capital Ltd.

Fresh Creations, owned by Elmore Warren, filmed the event which was then transmitted by Cable and Wireless in a project coordinated by Bermuda Marketing Ltd.

Bermuda Marketing president Ian Coles said there were several challenges in the transmission which had to be linked up through two satellites.

Coverage of the symposium will be screened in Bermuda on VSB channel 11, cable four, over the next two Sunday mornings in the 7.30 a.m. to 9 a.m. slot.

MEDIA ATTENTION GROWS AT FORUM CON BUC Media attention grows at forum About 560 delegates are attending the World Insurance Forum at the Southampton Princess Hotel. The conference has grown so much that it has attracted the attention of the world media and about 25 journalists are in attendance.

Conference chairman Robin Spencer-Arscott noted that he is now using the name of the World Insurance Forum written large on the screen behind the panelists with the Bermuda Insurance Symposium in smaller type above.

The change was sure to capture the attention of the 1,000 risk managers estimated to be watching as the conference went live over the Insurance Broadcast System in the US.
