Island's future `electric'
electrical engineering technologies, an industry expert says.
Head of the Electrical and Electronics department at the University of Hong Kong, Professor C.C. Chan says Bermuda's environment and transportation infrastructure is "ideal'' for developing the technologies that could open a new industry on the island and lead the world into the Twenty-First century.
An internationally recognised specialist, Professor Chan will lecture at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute today, explaining how useful and applicable electrical cars are to Bermdua.
All tickets were bought out last week and the host, Bermuda Electric Light Co., is expecting a full house.
Belco Senior Manager, Engineering and Planning, Leonard Malloy said: " I was really surprised. It shows the interest and it (the lecture) is a natural follow-up after the conference at the Biological Station.'' Bermuda's low speed limit, absence of long distances, small-scale economy and warm climate created a very high chance of success, says Professor Chan.
