Making the CASE for today's `net-savy' generation of investor
A Bermuda-based investment management organisation, CASE International Ltd., has been hired to manage two new equity mutual funds that will be offered through financial advisors across Canada.
The yrgentum International Fund and yrgentum North American Fund are going to be sold to the new generation of investors who understand how to use the Internet to research investment opportunities, the company said.
CASE International has been marketing the CASE (Computer Assisted Spectrographic Evaluation) financial services in Canada for 15 years through alliances with CIBC Wood Gundy and Midland Walwyn Capital.
The firm has developed a strong relationship with a network of financial advisors who use the unique CASE quantitative research system. CASE International's investment advisory services are offered, at present, in Canada to high net worth individuals and institutions through segregated portfolios and "wrap-free'' products.
Managing director of CASE International, Jeffrey Brewer, commented: "This is a great opportunity for our firm to build on the relationship that we have developed with Canadian brokers for more than a decade.
"They appear very excited to offer this innovative product to their clients.
The fit between CASE and yrgentum is good, since the CASE system has always been associated with technology innovation.
"Furthermore, the five-year performance record of our managed products has been very strong. Fred Pye, who headed Fidelity's national sales effort in Canada has put the yrgentum concept together in a brilliant national marketing programme.'' Butterfield Asset Management hired CASE International in 1996 to manage the Butterfield Equity Fund.
The global equity fund gained 22 percent in 1997 versus 14 percent for the Morgan Stanley World Index.
The CASE investment services are also marketed locally through Anchor Investment Management. Anchor provides equity, fixed income and balanced segregated portfolios for high net worth individuals and corporations.
