Michael Ebbs rose to became senior vice president of information systems from vice president while Bermudian Danny Fox moved up to senior vice president of retail clients from vice president.

Both men will also join the executive committee of the bank.

Mr. Ebbs is now set to have global responsibility for the bank's information systems division and will be based in the bank's Stirling, Scotland office.

Mr. Fox joined the bank in 1972 and will now have overall responsibility for retail delivery services including the branch network, personal banking and retail investor services, electronic banking, lending and Compass Pension Trust.

The Bank's president and CEO Henry Smith said the promotions underscored the emergence of retail banking as one of the Bank's core businesses, and the critical importance of global operations of the information systems division.
