Mentors key to scholar scheme

concentration, have already been awarded Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies (BFIS) scholarships, since the scheme was inaugurated last year.
BFIS chairman Brian Hall said that a Mentor Programme is a key part of the scholarship process, matching the students with young Bermudian professionals from within the insurance industry who serve as mentors, provide guidance, information and advice.
Three students awarded 1997 BFIS scholarships began at the Bermuda College in September. Four students graduate from the College in 1998 and will complete their studies overseas.
Six students have already left Bermuda College and have begun overseas studies at the College of Insurance and the University of Hartford.
