Robin McPhee, communications manager at Bermuda Electric Light Company, said last night the company had a policy of giving the public advance notice of any work that might cause a nuisance to area residents.

The work's contractor restarted after supplies and parts were received this week, forcing the very late warning.

She said: "It is part of our ongoing improvement. There were delays in getting material to the site Since early March. We just got them in this week.'' The work would be restricted to daylight hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
