MPs to attend conferences
discuss issues they have in common.
On the agenda will be drugs, tourism, the environment and offshore companies.
The three MPs, to be picked from the UBP and PLP, will join the annual Commonwealth Parliamentary Association small countries conference in Cyprus in September.
The small countries meeting will be followed by the main Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, involving more than 250 representatives from all Commonwealth countries.
Australian politician Mr. Clive Griffiths, a top CPA official, said small countries would discuss drug control, conflicting demands of the environment and tourism, parliamentary control of the administration and the handling of offshore financial industries.
The main conference would discuss world security, human rights, strengthening democracy, the role of women and the UN's part in settling international disputes.
"There are enormous pressures today on all governments to solve economic, environmental, human rights and social problems which are so complex that no single country or single leader can be expected to have all the answers,'' said Mr. Griffiths.
