bare to chop it down. The tree, which is nearly 70 feet tall and more than 60 years old was uprooted from the garden of Stuart Doyle's home on Woodbourne Avenue, Hamilton and replanted at the ACE Insurance/EXEL site on Bermudiana Road on Saturday.
"My mother and my grandparents planted the tree in 1930,'' Mr. Doyle, 61, explained.
"But my grandchildren are at that age when they want to start playing out and trees like that can shed some heavy pods and branches that could kill a child.
"It was also a hurricane risk so I knew I had to get rid of it.
"But, because of it's history, I didn't want to chop it down. I was then approached by ACE who offered to buy it from me. They're looking to buy up trees for their new site.'' BUSNIESS BUC
