Simmons set for new duties

of Education Officer, Social Studies in the Fall. The Education Department yesterday announced the appointment.
Mr. Simmons is completing his doctoral studies and expected to begin his new job on October 1.
The post was formerly held by CedarBridge deputy principal John Walsh.
An Education spokesman said Mr. Simmons will bring to the post "a commitment to the educational, cultural and spiritual growth of young people''.
"He has had wide and varied experience in the education field,'' he said of Mr. Simmons who was a social studies teacher for five years and a secondary school counsellor for four years.
Mr. Simmons had previously worked as a residential care officer for the Health and Social Services Ministry.
