Snap shot photo open for business
business, called Snap Shot Photo, outside the Modern Mart supermarket on South Road, Paget.
Mr. Lima has bought a Fuji compact mini-lab, which includes an ACCS colour correction scanner that allows colour to be put back into photographs.
The business is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. but there is a drop-off box so customers can deposit films 24 hours a day.
Any film dropped off after the business closes is guaranteed to be ready for pick-up by 11 a.m. the next day, said Mr. Lima.
"I'm concentrating on fast and convenient service,'' he said. "Customer service is the key.'' The location of the business outside the supermarket provided a large number of potential customers, he said.
"We're situated right on the main tourist route and visitors, in particular, will find the service useful because often they want their vacation snaps processed as quickly as possible,'' he added.
Snap Shot Photo will put people's favourite photos on custom-made Christmas cards and will also put business cards on photographic paper.
In order to get the business off to a quick start, Mr. Lima is offering discounts of seven and ten percent to nurses and policemen, respectively.
"I know a lot of nurses and policemen,'' explained Mr. Lima.
Customers who bring in a roll of 36 frames will be entitled to one six-by-eight-inch photo enlargement free of charge.
Mr. Lima hopes to soon take delivery of a black and white photocopier to expand his services.
Snap Shot Photo is his second business: he previously ran Professional Carpet Systems which he has since sold.
