Winter storms ground flights
flights to and from Bermuda to be cancelled on Saturday.
The storm, which dumped a half-foot to 21 inches of snow from Kentucky to Maine, forced the cancellation of all US-related flights with the exception of Delta Airlines' service from Atlanta.
Among the affected connections were American Airlines' round-trip from New York and USAir's service from New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Passengers in Bermuda who could not leave the Island on Saturday were able to board outbound flights yesterday.
Air Canada and British Airways flights were unaffected.
Meanwhile, the high winds and rain that buffeted Bermuda this weekend caused an electrical pole to catch fire in the Cove Valley area of St. David's early yesterday.
Fire Services reported that one truck and five personnel responded when the rain short-circuited some wires at around 1.33 a.m.
No damage was said to have occurred.
And the US Navy has issued a small craft warning until 9 p.m. today.
Boaters are warned to be aware of western 18-to-22-knot winds with gusts of 33 knots.
Seas inside the reef are expected to be between two and four feet, with those outside the reef between seven and nine feet.
