Aircraft Register takes off
month.
Civil Aviation director Herman Tucker announced that the number of aircraft listed on the Bermuda Aircraft Register would hit 120 by the end of March.
He said the Register now has 117 aircraft on its books and expects to add three more.
Last year the Register netted some $1.7 million in foreign exchange for Government coffers, added Mr. Tucker.
Further revenue is generated by the Register in the form of the fees aircraft owners pay lawyers and the Registrar of Companies to incorporate companies locally.
In November, two of eight new Airbus A320 aircraft leased to a major South American airline were registered.
The department is also registering two Airbus A310 aircraft which will be leased to a major international airline next month. The same carrier plans to register 12 more aircraft in April.
A Saudi Arabian prince's private Boeing 767-3000 aircraft is also being registered, as are ten new corporate planes.
