Airport trolleys still out of order
still not working yesterday.
And travellers are continuing to complain that no trolleys are available to transport their luggage in the Airport's arrivals area.
Mr. Thomas Oatham, facilities manager at the Airport, said he was awaiting parts from the United States to repair the mechanical problems with the dispensers. Only "one or two'' had been repaired so far, he said.
Traveller Mr. Lorenzo Caletti of Southampton managed to get a trolley from the one working machine in the departure area yesterday.
"I had to put my dollar bill in four times, but the fourth time it came through,'' Mr. Caletti said.
"I wish they had some over on the other side (in the arrivals area),'' he added. "That is where you need them.'' With no trolleys available, there were long waits for a skycap, he said. At Toronto in Canada and at many other airports around the world, too much trouble had been experienced attempting to charge for trolleys and they were now available free, he pointed out.
Mr. Lawrence Lachapelle, the Airport general manager, was not available for comment yesterday.
