Tickets to 40 cities in Europe, such as Rome, Zurich, Madrid and Istanbul are now at $699 and tickets to Cairo, Luxor, and Tel Aviv are going for $799.

Mr. Troake added: "However local travellers will be especially excited by the $999 fares to Sydney, Manila, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Kuala Lampur, Johannesburg and Cape Town.'' Travel must be started between January 13 and March 31 and reservations must be in at least a week before departure and tickets are non-refundable and full payment for the ticket must be made by January 19.
