Just five changing rooms were provided so bargain-hunting females stripped off in the open in the shed to try on the clothes.

A Cecile spokeswoman said up to 300 women were lined up outside the shed in Hamilton at 10 a.m. for the start of the three-day sale.

The up-market Front Street store was forced to slash 60 percent off the cost of its clothes after they became smoke damaged in the week before Christmas.

Close to 1,000 outfits, shoes and bags were sold yesterday, but there is still plenty left.

A Cecile spokeswoman said: "The sale was extremely successful, but there are still plenty of bargains to be had.'' Racks crowded with designer wear and upscale merchandise offered at 60 percent of its original price proved an irresistible lure, and sales were brisk.
