During a three-day exercise, which began yesterday, the Airport Operations Department's emergency response plans and capabilities will come under scrutiny.

The exercise, which involves other emergency agencies, will involve the simulation of a commercial aircraft crash with a resulting fire, loss of life, and injury to numerous passengers.

An Airport Operations spokesman explained that the exercise would provide an opportunity for all responsible agencies to educate their personnel, assess performance, evaluate procedures, test communications and other equipment as well as to identify and correct procedural deficiencies if necessary.
