Bermuda is once again to be promoted as the future centre for offshore electronic commerce at an international conference next month.

Bermuda-based First Atlantic Commerce is to take a stand with the Bank of Bermuda and VISA International at Shorex North America '99 in Toronto, Canada to help promote the Island as a centre for the growing industry.

Greg Vasic, president of First Atlantic, has been invited to be the first speaker at the offshore and e-commerce section of the conference. Mr. Vasic intends to speak on the benefits of e-commerce being located offshore.

"We need to market to the world, so these conferences are the ideal vehicle by which to present First Atlantic Commerce's offshore e-commerce services as well as Bermuda as the premier e-commerce jurisdiction,'' said Mr. Vasic.

Shorex North America promotes itself as a showcase of international financial services, investment management, multi-jurisdiction banking, private banking and offshore professional services.

Bda. to attend e-commerce conference Five thousand participants are expected to attend the 2-day event which starts on November 8. Businesses from Jersey, Hong Kong, Singapore, Barbados, Canada, Ireland and the UK are attending and as well as representatives from OECD, G8 and the EU.

First Atlantic is a leading developer of security systems which allow safe payments to be made for goods bought on the Internet.
