(Eddie) Saints as the company's first Bermudian general manager on the Island.

Mr. Saints replaces Colin Little, who was brought in from the company's operations in the Cayman Islands in January as point man in Cable & Wireless' legal battle with the Government.

Last month Government backed down in the face of a $100 million writ filed by Cable & Wireless, agreeing to end rate protection of competitor TeleBermuda International Ltd.

Cable & Wireless stated Mr. Little was returning to the Caymans to take up an unnamed senior post at the regional office. The hand over will take place next month.

Mr. Saints, 41, is currently on loan to Quantum Communications Ltd., in which Cable & Wireless has an equity stake. He moved over from Cable & Wireless -- where he was manager of sales, customer services and business development -- to Quantum in June 1997.

He joined Cable & Wireless in 1986 as a data processing manager and later held the post of manager of information services.

Mr. Saints holds an MBA in information technology. He also holds a post graduate diploma in business and industrial administration.

"I'm very pleased and proud as a Bermudian to have been given this opportunity which further underscores Cable & Wireless's long held commitment to Bermudianisation,'' Mr. Saints said in a statement. "The recently concluded agreement with Government has provided us with a platform for growth which will enable us to continue as Bermuda's leading provider of innovative telecommunications.'' Mr. Saints will be the fourth general manager at Cable & Wireless in the past three years. Mr. Little took over from John Tibbles who in turn took over from Jeni Graham in September 1996.
