BIU gender seminar underway today
gender issues in the workplace.
To be held at the BIU's headquarters on Union Street, participants will include Ms Constance Thomas, International Labour Organisation specialist on international standards, and Marva Phillips of the University of the West Indies. The seminar is being sponsored by the BIU and the ILO.
The first session -- Gender and Human Rights in Bermuda: Legislative Policy and Practice, starts at 9. a.m. featuring Joanne Wohlmuth.
Other panel discussions will examine gender and equality issues, strategy workshops, the international condition of gender in the workplace, history of women and men in Bermuda's trade union movement, and the concept of gender within an industrial relations context.
The seminar runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow. Local participants include Gaylia Landry, Kim Young, and Ms Wohlmuth.
