Bloomberg editor to speak at AGM

Bermuda International Business Association's (BIBA) annual general meeting and luncheon next month.

The AGM and luncheon gets underway at 12.30 p.m. on December 12 at the Princess Hotel.

Mr. Winkler will discuss how financial markets coverage has changed in the 1990s and the implications of multi-media on financial markets, said BIBA.

Since its inception in June 1990, Bloomberg Business News has grown to more than 350 editors and reporters in 60 bureaus throughout North America, Europe and the Far East.

From July, 1980 to February, 1990, Mr. Winkler was a senior reporter for the Wall Street Journal and news services of its parent, Dow Jones & Co.

At the Wall Street Journal, he was responsible for credit markets, corporate finances and the securities industry in New York from 1987 to 1990.

He served as European financial correspondent for the Wall Street Journal Europe and the Wall Street Journal in London from 1982 to 1987.

He helped conceive the Dow Jones Capital Markets Report in 1980 and was responsible for its first scoop, the collapse of Drysdale Government Securities in 1982, BIBA said.

BIBA is an association of 44 Bermuda companies representing the Island's banks, law and accounting firms.
