British Airways offers low fares
seats on a major airline.
British Airways announced another seat sale yesterday in its continuing effort to lower fares.
BA manager Philip Troake said: "Following the huge success of recent seat sales to destinations around the world, we are continuing to respond to the demand with this World Offer fare to London and 40 cities in Europe.'' Fares are available for purchase until April 24 for travel from Bermuda commencing immediately until May 31. The fare to London is $654 with European cities priced at $697.
Mr. Troake added: "We have made a quite outstanding start to 1998. Our new Boeing 777 is universally popular and pricing initiatives such as these have proven equally attractive in the local market.'' ELECTRIC GEAR STOLEN CRM Electric gear stolen Police are investigating three separate thefts of electronic equipment which took place earlier this week.
A stereo system was stolen from a South Road, Smith's Parish residence between 10.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday after the culprit entered through an unlocked window.
The system consisted of a black Aiwa compact disc player, a speaker and three compact discs.
The DeFontes Television Centre also reported the theft of a Bose Lifestyle stereo system from its Reid Street warehouse.
The system was on display when it was taken sometime during Saturday afternoon.
A 19-inch Zenith television was stolen from one of the Modern Mart apartments on South Road in Paget sometime last week.
During the break-in, the culprit also vandalised the apartment, smashing some ceramic lamps.
HOME PLAN REFUSED PLN Home plan refused A planned home extension on Great Bay Road, St. George's has been refused by the Development Applications Board, because insufficient information was supplied with the application.
The DAB also gave the green light to plans for a new driveway at a property in North Shore Road, Smith's Parish.
And renovations, including a new garage, to a house on Whaling Hill, Southampton, can go ahead after planning permission was granted.
LONG-TIME VISITOR DIES OBT Long-time visitor dies News has been received of the death of Douglas W. Lefferts, a frequent visitor to the Bermuda for 30 years. He was 82.
Mr. Lefferts died quietly at home in Port Chester, New York on April 9. He is survived by his wife Elise and his two nephews, Leffert and Jacob.
Mr. and Mrs. Lefferts spent their summers at Coral Beach Club from the 1950s until the 1970s and had many friends.
MAN DISTURBS VISITOR CRM Man disturbs visitor A female visitor reported to Police that she found a thief standing in her room early yesterday.
The woman told Police the incident took place around 4 a.m. when she awoke to see a "shadowy silhouette'' crouched beside her bed at Newstead in Paget.
Unsure, the woman said she reached out and touched the figure. She screamed when she made contact.
The culprit stood up and snatched her white canvas bag before leaving the room.
The suspect was described as a young black male, around five-feet, four-inches tall, of slim build, and wearing dark clothes.
TOYOTA CAR STOLEN CRM Toyota car stolen Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding both a missing car and boat engine.
The white Toyota Corolla hatchback, licence plate 27815, was recently stolen from Terceira's storage yard on North Shore Road in Smith's Parish.
And a brand new 30 hp electric start boat engine was removed from a vessel stored on the Pearman Watlington dock in Pembroke during the weekend.
A pull-starter mechanism from another 30 hp outboard engine of a 13-foot Boston Whaler was also taken.
