BSX increases to new all-time high
high after Bank of Butterfield hit a new year high.
The index continued its upward motion, rising 5.24 points to close at 1,945.94 points in light trading.
Bank of Butterfield shares rose 25 cents to close at $18.75. No other stocks changed price.
Only 7,274 shares worth $157,885 changed hands yesterday.
Much of the Index's rise this year has come as a result of the rise in the share prices of the Bank of Bermuda and the Bank of Butterfield, both of which have announced plans to seek secondary listings on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
The Bank of Bermuda, the nmost heavily weighted issue on the Exchange, stayed at its high for the year of $40 yesterday. Its 52-week low is $24.28.
The Bank of Butterfield's, the second largest issue on the Index, had a low for the year of $15.
