Chamber of Commerce would love members to use e-mail

A business group is launching a competition that aims to get right to the heart of the matter.

Because as Valentine's Day approaches the Chamber of Commerce will put love on the Internet in a competition designed to show how e-mails can get directly to new markets.

The contest was announced yesterday and will use the Chamber's e-mail network, ChamberNet, to send a Valentine quiz and demonstrate how using the system allows a business to reach new audiences and tap into new markets.

Chamber president David Rowntree said: "We are already using the ChamberNet as a means of communicating with our members.

"What we have discovered is that e-mail allows us to reach deeper into an organisation, beyond the managers and owners of the business.'' Mr. Rowntree added: "ChamberNet complements our World Wide Web presence and helps us to dialogue in a fast, cost-effective and direct way with our members.

"This quiz is our way of encouraging more members to utilise e-mail and features the medium in a rewarding, involving and fun way.'' A hard copy of the quiz has been sent to all Chamber members and anyone within a member organisation can take part.

People are being asked to answer five Valentine's Day questions and send their replies via e-mail only to the Chamber of Commerce.
